Pontiac is going green. Habitat for Humanity, Chrysler Financial, and Gontina Building and Design joined forces to build the area’s first affordable home that meets the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification standards. Which is a way of saying this one-story Pontiac home will use 30 to 50 percent less energy than homes of similar size and retails for under $100,000. Which is an altogether different way of saying, this home is good for the bills and the environment. Recently finished, the home was presented to Camisha Byrd, a single mother of two.
