9/23–28: THE DETROIT DESIGN FESTIVAL spans all design disciplines and brings together commerce, culture, education, and entertainment. Now in its fourth year, the six-day festival is putting Detroit’s creative community on display at more than 20 design events in six core clusters along Detroit’s Creative Corridor, downtown Detroit, New Center, Eastern Market, and in neighborhoods throughout the city. 9/26–28: THE AMERICAN SEWING EXPO is the largest independent sewing expo in the United States and includes classes, demonstrations, make-and-takes, contests, give-aways, and shopping. 10/4–5: THE MICHIGAN ANTIQUE AND COLLECTIBLE FESTIVAL takes place in five buildings, including the historic Elllis Barn, and features unique displays and vintage items. 10/8–11: THE OUR TOWN ART SHOW AND SALE showcases works created by Michigan artists in all media types, and sales benefit The Community House Student Art Town Art Workshops. The Opening Night “Art in Vogue” party includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and desserts, as well as models wearing fashions inspired by Our Town artwork.
