Jeff Jordan Architects
Owners who commissioned this cottage requested an area for cooking, eating, and relaxing with space and sleep accommodations for 20 guests. The challenge: fitting a large building onto a narrow site without overwhelming neighbors, while taking advantage of the views. The solution: positioning the house at the center of the site and breaking the overall volume into four smaller volumes. That strategy brings substantial light and air into every room while allowing lake and forest views. The living quarters and master suite are above grade; remaining bedrooms are partially buried.
