Kevin Alter
Kevin Alter is the Sid W. Richardson Centennial Professor of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin, where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in design, construction, and theory. He is a graduate of Bennington College and Harvard University. His professional practice —Alterstudio Architecture, llp — has received more than 90 design awards. Alter is the editor of 11 books, and his writing has appeared in publications including Architecture, Progressive Architecture, and Architectural Design, among other journals and books, and he has curated 16 exhibitions that have been shown in numerous venues internationally. He has been a visiting critic, reviewer, lecturer, and visiting professor at dozens of institutions worldwide.
Lisa Jarvis
At the age of 13, Lisa Jarvis convinced her parents to let her decorate her bedroom. “I still remember every detail. Of course, I demanded full creative control,” she laughs.
Since those precocious beginnings, Jarvis has decorated New York penthouses, country homes, corporate offices, and a pied-à-terre in Paris. Her approach is always consistent: “If your home or office isn’t comfortable and representative of who you are, a powerful opportunity has been lost.”
Jarvis’ aesthetic sensibilities also anchor her new Hardworks Collection, which currently consists of 35 unique knobs and pulls. Frustrated because she couldn’t find hardware whose style, quality, and impact matched her vision, Jarvis designed her own. Her collection reflects clean lines, comfort, and elegance. Jarvis says she’s driven by the notion that spaces we move through should be useful, beautiful, and reflect the purpose for which they were designed.
Mary Rossi
Mary Rossi Designs is an interior styling company based in Minneapolis, and her design solutions have touched clients as far south as the Palm Beaches and west to Scottsdale, Ariz.
Rossi, a versatile home stylist, delivers creative solutions for home and small business clients. She began her career studying textiles and clothing construction at Parson’s New School in New York and Paris; through the experience, she found her passion for interior design.
Rossi’s mission is simple: Create uniquely personalized interiors tailored to each client’s space, needs, and budget. She believes a person’s interior environment should be an extension of one’s personal style, where stories and passion are brought to life. The design process is one that continually builds upon itself, focusing on color, textures, and objects that make clients feel at home Her vision is to create spaces that are inspirational, livable, and lovely — a destination people want to experience.
Christina Sullivan Roughan
Roughan Interior Design is the international design firm of interior designer Christina Sullivan Roughan. Roughan’s design experience and graceful style have enabled her to create warm, sophisticated interiors that are timeless and elegant, while remaining welcoming and approachable.
Roughan’s design portfolio is known for deft combinations of texture and subtle color, using modern traditional accents to create livable, crisp interiors. She has designed interiors throughout the world, including apartments and townhouses in New York City, country estates in Connecticut (where she lives) and New York, resort properties, personal luxury yachts and cruise liners, and high-end corporate and hospitality properties. She began her career with the iconic retail brands Polo Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger, designing and overseeing the implementation of stores and showrooms worldwide.
Reginald Thomas
Reginald L. Thomas, AIA, has garnered almost 30 years’ worth of experience, ranging from working with a group of distinguished architectural/design firms in New York City to being the principal of his own design studio.
After graduating from college in 1986, Thomas worked for Bond Ryder James Architects, where he worked on projects such as the Paul Newman residence, the renovation of the Schomburg Cultural Center, and the Martin Luther King Center. Later, while working with some of the most prestigious architectural firms in the city — David Easton/Eric Smith, Juan Montoya, Juan Pablo Molyneux and Ferguson, Shamamian and Ratter — he studied at the Institute of Classical Architecture.
In 1998, he created New York City-based Reginald L. Thomas Architect, LLC, specializing in historically-based, high-end residential projects, as well as multiuse and institutional work.
