La Petite Maison presents beaucoup style!
LINDA JOLIAT, OWNER of La Petite Maison, 107 W. Shiawassee Ave., Fenton, fell in love with France after her first trip there, and has continued her love affair for more than 25 years. The idea for her French shop began while spending time in a historic French chateau doing art restoration. “I brought treasures home for my friends, and the next thing I knew, it had grown into a small business,” says Joliat, right. La Petite Maison offers upholstered pieces (custom headboards are popular); several have been rebuilt from the frame up and covered in beautiful fabrics. Joliat also repurposes furniture for the store and individual customers. She travels to France four times a year and will host a bon voyage sale in February, in preparation for her March buying trip. Upon Joliat’s return, it isn’t unusual to see a line outside her door with shoppers curious to see her new wares (see some of the intriguing bedroom pieces at far right). “I bring back antiques, clothing, linens, and fabrics.” — Tanya Zager Chisholm
