Our Midwestern peninsula is getting a cultural infusion from another famous peninsula: Italy.
In addition to the arrival of Italians in the form of Fiat personnel at Chrysler’s Auburn Hills headquarters, several other Italian manufacturers are establishing higher profiles here.
Berloni, the Italian company best known for its kitchen cabinetry, has opened an airy showroom in Troy, just across Stutz Drive from Michigan Design Center. Displays include traditional kitchen looks, along with the better-known sleek, contemporary designs. Showroom vignettes also include office and bedroom products.
To go with the Italian kitchens, Bertazzoni “cooking systems,” including stylish ranges, are available at Hawthorne Appliance in Birmingham.
Add some Mediterranean-style accents and dishware from The Italian Dish in Birmingham, and all you’ll need to complete the Euro immersion is a Fiat Alfa Romeo in the garage.
