Colleen Farrell opted to use a unique wall treatment that features a Benjamin Moore custom mix with a specialty finish by Washington Township-based Bambrick Artistic Painting. A faux arrangement by floral designer Patti Rossi, of Bloomfield Hills, enhances the space.

WHEN INTERIOR DESIGNER COLLEEN FARRELL designed this dining room in a Bloomfield Hills home, her goal was to create a “warm and inviting classic dining room around the unusual color scheme of ice-blue and red,” she says. Farrell, who had worked on other rooms in the home, used the rug (the client’s own) colors as a jumping-off point. “The red walls are warm and enveloping,” says the Rochester-based designer, “and the ice-blue silk drapery (Stark silk and Samuel and Sons trim) is a wonderful juxtaposition at the windows.” The walls are painted in three shades of red, with an umber glaze.
